Tender Cords

"Tender Cords" follows the journey of Susanne (Hanna Schygulla) and her daughter Sylvie (Anja Schneider). Through their phone calls, Sylvie hears her mother languishing in the nursing home and tries to navigate the bureaucratic red tape to get her out. But their struggle takes an unexpected turn as they become entangled in the surrealistic task of tracing back the cord of the telephone through which they communicate past nightmares and memories in an attempt to reach each other at the other end of the line. The resolution, becomes a poignant farewell- a moving portrayal of lost goodbyes. Delving into the mirage of proximity promised by technology, Tender Cords is a profound exploration of the inner world of two women as an unexpected challenge tests the fragility of their body and the strength of their bond.
